Awards and Honors
 | Fuentes was awarded the Mexican National Literature Award. Fuentes was presented with the Miguel de Cervantes prize in 1988, which is one of the most prestigious award of Spanish letters. He was also given the Venezuelan Romulo Gallegos award for his novel Terra Nostra. In 1999, Fuentes was the first recipient of the Latin Civilization award presented jointly by the Presidents of France, Mexico and Brazil. |
